A Year in ReVIEW: 2017 Highlights at ReSOURCE

  • We launched the South End Joinery, opening doors to woodworking classes and new skills
  • ReSOURCE floated down Main Street in Magic Hat’s Mardi Gras Parade, donning an Alice in Wonderland themed float
  • Jerry Greenfield of Ben & Jerry’s scooped some ice cream at our Burlington location as a customer appreciation event
  • We were nominated for and won a Seven Daysies award for Best Secondhand Housewares Store – for the third consecutive year! 
  • The rainy weather didn’t dampen our Art Hop spirit – the food, games, and music kept us hopping all day!
  • Our AmeriCorps Every Body Works program premiered, providing a pathway to employment for people facing barriers to success
  • ReSOURCE showcased vintage, functioning technology from our stores at Tech Jam
  • YouthBuild had its annual Thanksgiving for the students, their friends, and their families at the Old North End Community Center, where YouthBuild staff cooked tons of food and everyone came together to celebrate all the good work the students do
  • ReSOURCE surpassed its Giving Tuesday goal of $5,000 thanks to the kindness and generosity of all those who donated in support of our programs and our mission
  • As always, we’re proud of everyone who graduated from our programs. They dedicated time and hard work to do better for themselves and for the community

What is Career Start?

Career Start is a program designed for high school students to gain hands-on experience and technical skills in various departments at ReSOURCE’s Burlington or Barre locations.

High school students enrolled in school are eligible to participate in the Career Start program.

The program provides hands-on experience in ReSOURCE departments, technical skills training, and monthly personal and professional development classes.

There is a fee of $1500, but tuition is waived for qualifying Vermonters.

Departments include Customer Service & Retail, Office Administration, Computers and Electronics, Overlook Cafe, and Large Appliances, among others.

Yes, students earn a monthly stipend

Training covers Health and Wellness, Goal Setting and Achievement, Leadership Development, Career Planning, and Financial Literacy.
