AmeriCorps Training Assistant- Support Youth & Adults with Barriers to Employment

  • ReSOURCE is looking for committed community members to join our AmeriCorps team of socially-minded individuals to support
    youth and adults with barriers to employment. These full time AmeriCorps positions start in September 2022.

     

     

    The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and verbal skills; be passionate, innovative; capable of
    serving with a diverse group of people, and above all be empathetic. They will have the ability to make
    decisions in a variety of situations and serve the community by providing meaningful service-based learning
    and opportunities for youth and adults with disabilities.

     

     

    This position will support existing and new training programs that serve youth and adults with disabilities. In
    addition, assist participants with career development and exploration by creating meaningful experiences and leading applicant orientation sessions. Training assistants will coordinate daily student assignments with department staff to ensure students are making progress toward goals. Most importantly, this position will create a safe learning environment and enhance service-based experiences for all of ReSOURCE’s participants.

     

    ReSOURCE is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to its mission to empower individuals and
    strengthen Vermont communities through workforce development, poverty relief, and environmental
    stewardship. The AmeriCorps position must complete 1700 hours in 11 months, rotating service hours on
    Saturdays & Sundays required. Positions are available in ReSOURCE’s locations: Burlington, Barre, Hyde Park or
    Williston. This is a covered position that will require full background checks. This position is contingent upon
    grant funding. This position has access to vulnerable population.

     

     

    GOALS & DUTIES:
    • Support existing & new training programs that serve youth and adults with disabilities
    • Direct service position enhancing students learning experiences and outcomes
    • Help participants develop essential job skills which will lead to employment
    • Support trainees with job readiness skills
    • Practice and role model expectations
    • Hands-on trainer for students and trainees
    • Coordinate daily student assignments with department staff to ensure students are making progress toward goals
    • Create & maintain a safe learning environment.
    • Support and provide students & trainees with feedback and opportunities to grow
    • Support trainees through meaningful connections
    • Work with supervisor to establish personal development goals
    • Participate in service projects including National Days of Service
    • Support the mission of AmeriCorps and ReSOURCE

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Demonstrated leadership experience
    • Experience with serving disadvantaged populations
    • Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word
    • Bilingual speakers highly encouraged to apply
    • Mission driven
    • Positive and cooperative attitude a must
    • Reliable
    • Enjoy public interaction
    • Ability to think through situations, problem solving skills a must
    • Friendly and approachable demeanor
    • Valid license and reliable transportation a must
    • Must be a U.S. citizen, a national, or legal permanent resident
    • Must be at least 18 years old or 17 year old with parental permission upon entering pre-service orientation
    • Must have high school diploma or GED certificate, or be willing to work towards their GED as part of
    their service-year successful completion requirement. A member cannot have dropped out of High School to join AmeriCorps.
    • Must undergo a National Service Criminal History Check
    • Must undergo Agency of Human Services Adult & Child Abuse Registry Check
    • Must not have been convicted of murder
    • Must not have been convicted of sexual assault
    • Must complete Mandated Reporter Certification
