What the Computer Department Supervisor Does
ReSOURCE, and this position, are at the forefront of climate change by diverting reusable technology equipment from our landfill. ReSOURCE, and this position, help our community by making reusable goods available a low cost to our communities.
Every day the Computer Department Supervisor, who supervises 1 technician, oversees production processes to keep the sales floor stocked with equipment for sale, keeps a clean and organized shop, and manages department schedules. The Computer Department Supervisor oversees a workforce development training program that teaches introductory technical skills and provides early essential work experience to youth and adults.
This position is responsible for ReSOURCE’s participation in the Vermont Electronics Recycling Program as a Drop-Off site and will work with the Retail Store Manager, who oversees staff responsible for accepting electronics from donors, to ensure that we operate in accordance with all terms of the Vermont Electronics Recycling Program and the Vermont E-Cycles statute.
Big picture, together with the Computer Manager the Computer Department Supervisor ensures processes are sufficient to meet sales needs, meet licensing requirements and compliance with State recycling requirements. The Computer Department Supervisor mentors, coaches and role models of exceptional customer service and professionalism for staff and students.
Work Schedule & Environment
Hours – 40 hour per week, one weekend day required
Department Hours – Monday through Saturday 10AM – 6PM, Sunday 10AM – 5PM
Location – ReSOURCE’s Williston Location, no remote work available
Compensation – $22.00 per hour
The Computer Department works closely with the Williston retail team. These departments are as committed to each other and having fun as they are to the roles they play in reuse operations. The break room frequently has homemade food, we celebrate birthdays together, and there’s regular laughter on the floor.
Job Requirements
The Computer Department Supervisor must know how to lead, supervise, and develop staff, and know how to repair and upgrade computers in a production environment.
They must have a natural attention to detail to stay in compliance with licensing requirements and State requirements for the Vermont Electronics Recycling Program E-Waste statute.
They’ll learn how to safely and environmentally dispose of unusable equipment through the E-Waste program and will be part of an organization engaging in 3 years of professional training in diversity, equity and inclusion at ReSOURCE.
