ReSOURCE is looking for a YouthBuild Classroom Instructor to creatively lead the classroom portion of our award winning YouthBuild program in Burlington, Vermont. What the YouthBuild Classroom Instructor Does
Many young people don’t find success in traditional classroom settings. Unfortunately, it’s too easy for these students to assume they are bad learners. The YouthBuild Classroom Instructor changes that by creating a welcoming classroom where all types of learning are acknowledged and celebrated.
Every day the YouthBuild Classroom Instructor provides instructional and case management for ReSOURCE’s YouthBuild Burlington program. The YouthBuild Classroom Instructor provides individual and group instruction to support students achieving high school diplomas, workforce certifications, post-secondary pursuits and work readiness.
Daily interaction is 1 on 1 with students or in small groups in the classroom. There is abundant staff interaction to provide support for students outside the classroom in other parts of the program.
Longer term, this position ensures young people in Vermont have a pathway to graduation which leads to improved employment outcomes and long term success.
Work Schedule & Environment
Hours – 40 hour per week, Monday – Thursday. Exact hours and schedule to be determined with finalist.
Location – YouthBuild Burlington, Pine Street, Burlington
Hybrid schedule is possible with some instructional prep and curriculum development work completed remotely. The majority of the work will be done onsite with students.
Compensation – Salary range is $43,680-$47,840, depending on experience.
This position is supervised by our YouthBuild Program Manager who is passionate about youth development and believes that students should be both valued and challenged. He believes in creating flexible and rigorous pathways to learning and achievement. He is highly respected by our school partners.

Job Requirements
The YouthBuild Classroom Instructor must have education, curriculum and/or lesson planning experience with a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field. What’s most important is a strong commitment to cultivating a safe, respectful, and collaborative learning environment for young adults ages 16-24. Since our Instructor will occasionally transport students, a valid driver’s license with a clean record is preferred.
They must be naturally good at connecting with young people, developing leadership in others, and must naturally be creative when designing learning activities.
They’ll learn about the YouthBuild USA model and alternative pathways to high school graduation in Vermont and will be part of 3 years of professional training in diversity, equity and inclusion at ReSOURCE.
