The Flying Stage

In a multi-purpose building converted from an historic old granite shed, ReSOURCE Barre is now home to the Flying Stage.

In keeping with our mission, the Flying Stage is a platform for live performances to entertain, education, and eco-inspire!

What is the Flying Stage?

The Flying Stage at 30 Granite Street in Barre, VT, lives in the high rafters of an old granite shed, a piece of Barre’s industrial history that is now home to our ReSOURCE Barre location. With chain hoists hung from the 5-ton granite crane beams, the stage is lowered, transforming the floor below into a venue for entertainment and community arts events.

Afterward, the stage “flies” back to the rafters and ReSOURCE resumes the use of the floor space for its array of public missions. These include job training, community-building and environmentally-conscious resale of used household furnishings, building supplies, and all manner of materials for upcycling. If so-moved, concert-goers at the Flying Stage venue can even purchase the donated furniture they’ve been sitting on – and perhaps drive off with a cozy armchair, used sofa, or other vintage seating.
