Construction 101 Workshop in Lamoille County has been postponed

*The Construction 101 program in Lamoille County, scheduled to begin April 6, has been postponed until further notice. In addition, the two information, orientation, and enrollment meetings scheduled on March 18 and 25 have also been postponed.

ReSOURCE’s six-week apprenticeship style job training program is designed to allow participants to acquire important skills needed to obtain employment
in the Construction industry

 

ReSOURCE is pleased to announce its popular Construction 101 Workshop is expanding to Lamoille County. The six-week carpentry, construction and employability skills course has 8 available spaces and is open to community members age 18 +.

 

Through this technical training course, participants will complete six of the NCCER construction certification modules (safety, hand tools, power tools, construction math, employability skills and communication skills) and OSHA-10 Workplace Safety 2 Certification. Certification-based course work will be supplemented by hands-on building projects at ReSOURCE’s Hyde Park location. In addition, participants will complete ReSOURCE’s Personal and Professional Development (PPD) course designed to improve job seeking and retention skills.

 

Two Information, Orientation and Enrollment sessions for interested candidates to learn more about this opportunity and to explore funding assistance are scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, 9-11am and Wednesday, March 25, 9-11am. Both sessions will be held at the Morrisville Department of Labor office, 197 Harrell St. Preregistration is not required.

What is Career Start?

Career Start is a program designed for high school students to gain hands-on experience and technical skills in various departments at ReSOURCE’s Burlington or Barre locations.

High school students enrolled in school are eligible to participate in the Career Start program.

The program provides hands-on experience in ReSOURCE departments, technical skills training, and monthly personal and professional development classes.

There is a fee of $1500, but tuition is waived for qualifying Vermonters.

Departments include Customer Service & Retail, Office Administration, Computers and Electronics, Overlook Cafe, and Large Appliances, among others.

Yes, students earn a monthly stipend

Training covers Health and Wellness, Goal Setting and Achievement, Leadership Development, Career Planning, and Financial Literacy.
