Opinion: Why we help refugees

The reasons ReSOURCE helps refugees are the same as the reasons we help homeless individuals, dropout youth, those needing to overcome a disability or injury, or dislocated workers in need of a new trade.
Central to our mission is the concept of reducing waste and increasing opportunity. Vermont’s tri-partisan rejection of President Trump’s executive action on immigration is testament to the strength of Vermont’s civil society and our generally rational as opposed to emotional approach to policy.

Mayors Day 2017 Celebration
Tuesday, March 4th our ReSOURCE YouthBuild students and AmeriCorps members were invited to have coffee with our Vermont Mayors! Our students met with Mayor Miro of Burlington, and with Mayor John Hollar of Montpelier, along with other AmeriCorps members in the state to celebrate their commitment to service and making our community a better place. Burlington alone is home to 50 AmeriCorps members not including the surrounding towns. It was great to see so many people dedicated to creating change through service.
